Mr. Jim and the Bass of El Cap

What can I say about this day that Jim hasn't publicly already said himself? What a great guy to have aboard.

When Jim called me, he said he had been on the water bass fishing a few times, and was not getting the results he wanted. I told him I could show him some ways to keep it simple with a few go-to rigs, that he could use anytime. Of course when I do trips like this, I usually warn that we may or may not catch fish, but that these techniques are usually surefire. How nice it was for the bass to back up these methods for us. I don't think Jim tried anything that did not get him a bite.

We started out using a Pro Blue Fluke, and Jim got bit on that almost instantly. A few more hits and misses, and he was ready to try something with a better hookup ratio, though. I showed him the drop shot, and I think harp music was playing, because he soon fell in love with the response the fish gave to the dangling pink worm (Open Water Drop Shot Worm - Dominator). After a few more bites, and fish to pose with, it took some convincing to get him to try the Shakey, but he did - and he caught fish on that too. What a great bunch of assistance these fish gave us, and I really do appreciate it, and I am sure Jim does too.

Again, I do believe that Jim gave the best report of this day in his own words.
