Located just south (and a little east) of downtown San Diego, Lower Otay Reservoir is San Diego County's most famous reservoir. This fine fishery was the home to the first plant of San Diego raised Florida strain largemouth bass. With the original breading pond (Upper Otay) just accross the road from the northern crest of Otay Arm, Lower Otay Reservoir boasts not only a fine Florida strain largemouth fishery, but is also home to some monsterous blue catfish. Other noted species include channel catfish; bluegill, carp, and black crappie.
