San Diego Bay is such a vast body of water. There is nothing else like it for a good time. And as you know, I like to show folks a good time on the water. Easy to please anglers like Steve make it even more enjoyable.
When Steve called me and said he wanted to try and catch a Bonefish, I knew that he had called at the right time. Little did I know all the other fish he would catch though. We were throwing Ghost Shrimp from 8:45AM until about 10:15AM. So that first hour and a half was just mayhem on anything that would eat Ghost Shrimp. We started out fishing a flooded flat, and Steve hooked up on a Black Croaker (AKA: Chinese Croaker, Sargo, Pacific Drum). It wasn't too many casts later however, that he got his first Bonefish. Then he proceeded to check off just about anything else he could catch. We made a few adjustments, and Steve caught two more Bonefish, and I caught two myself.
After all of the Ghost Shrimp was gone, we started mixing it up between Berkley Gulp (shrimp and squid), and Laser Lure Crankbaits. We caught more Spotted Bay Bass than anything on these baits, and had a blast doing it.
Somehow in the midst of our day, I took some action shots with my little Pentax, but forgot to get more still shots. I did make a You Tube video, however, and please feel free to watch it and comment if you'd like.
All fish were Released: 5 Bonefish, 1 Sand Shark, 1 Skate, 6 Croaker (mixed), 1 Halibut, 1 Turbot, 1 Sand Bass, 16 Spotted Bay Bass
