Bonefish Fishing San Diego Bay with Jim

When Jim said he didn't care what we caught, but Bonefish fishing San Diego Bay looked like fun, I knew that he was going to see exactly what fun meant. After the day that Kellen and Mike from SD Fish had the day before, I was all ready to put Jim on some of the best bonefish fishing San Diego Bay had to offer.

When we first hit the water, I knew this was the day Jim would get his first Bonefish. The tide was slowly falling, and the flats were flooded. The Bonefish were just off of the ledges waiting for the plentiful San Diego Bay ghost shrimp to come down current to them. Drags were zinging, and it was game on. We captured a bit of footage, and made a YouTube clip for your enjoyment.

At one point in the day Jim and I had fish busting around us. Within seconds, I had two Laser Lure crankbaits tied on. The fish didn't stay up long, but after catching one, we found out they were Bonita. Other by catches included Short Fin Corvina; Sand Shark, and Spotted Bay Bass. Jim tried to eat one whole - see pic.

It was a great time, and since Jim doesn't like it when I don't have a rod in my hand, there were many double hook ups. We even had a double on the Bonefish.

Bonefish fishing San Diego Bay can be rewarding, sometimes challenging, but with the right circumstances and company, always a lot of fun.
